John started to rock on the bed, his back smacking against the wall. "Right. Right. The Little People. Why didn't I think of that?" He shook his head, then stopped rocking as a life preserver fell on the overwhelming waters of insanity. Something to cling to. "Hump! Where is the bastard?" He looked out the window, but couldn't see anything. He cupped his hands around his eyes, pressing his face to the glass. "You out there, Hump? Hope you're frickin' happy. Ted out there, too?" He clawed at the window, wanting to push it open. It didn't budge. He slammed his fist on the windowsill. "All of you can go to hell!"

John Hunter thinks he has everything he wants...a good job with a technology company, prospects for a promotion and a beautiful woman lying beside him when he wakes up. Only two things bother him: he's too short and he has no idea who he really is.
When his boss sends him back to his hometown of Waterston, John finds strange things happening. The programming team is falling behind, distracted by sightings of Sasquatch and Little People.
But keeping his mind on the work proves impossible when his childhood mentor, Father Troy appears, someone John thought long dead. Pulled by a longing deep in his soul, John lets Father Troy convince him to trek into deep bush to face the past John has forgotten. John learns he is not of this technological world, but the product of a primitive culture both scary and alluring that survives in the heart of the forest.

From A Review
John Hunter has no recollection of his parents or family. His memories are of the small orphanage in Waterston where he lived until he was nine, and of a long parade of foster homes after that. Now an adult, John spends his days working on the cutting edge of modern technology and his nights
dreaming about mysterious wild creatures that fill him with a desperate sense of longing.
Then a crisis at work sends John back to Waterston. There, he reconnects with Father Troy, the kindly priest who watched over him as a child, and learns the shocking truth about his family...
