"The plot, packed with twists and turns, will keep you turning the pages." --- ForemostPress.com

In his third novel, Hunting for Tamara, Dr. I. J. Sarfeh blends his knowledge of trauma surgery and the Middle Eastwhere he has livedas well as his experience in working with military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress. Using that background, he creates a fast-paced tale of the frenzied hunt for the lone survivor of a mass murder in Iraq.
In Baghdad, masked gunmen massacre a prominent Iraqi family. U.S. Army Intelligence recruits Dr. Liam Casey, a trusted family friend, to find Tamara Najib, the lone survivor. As a former military surgeon who had served in Iraq, Casey is a victim of post-traumatic stress and a recovering alcoholic. Before he embarks on the quest, an enigmatic and strong-willed woman, Lilly Jones, befriends him. Who is she, and why is she so intent on helping him? Attracted to her and needing companionship, Casey accepts her help. Together they follow a trail of clues left behind by a dead British soldier. The clues: a woman's grave in Southern California; the ramblings of a demented man; a cross carved on a tree; a photograph of a six-year-old boy named Jake; and Devil's Chimney, a landmark in western England. The perilous quest finds them fighting for their lives.
Hunting for Tamara explores the horrific chaos of Baghdad, the soldiers who fight it, the innocents who suffer through it, and the opportunists who exploit it. The characters are chosen carefully to portray the effects of war on individuals with vastly different backgrounds. Their inner selves are exposed during the explosive climax of the tale.
