It's been ages since Findador explorers were in this part of the world, thought Speckarin. There's no way of knowing whether they visited this tiny island. If they did, the chances are slim it's the one they went home telling tales about. Yet Talli thought she saw something move, found an opening, and heard unidentified sounds.
"If we're not alone on this island, perhaps the residents can help us," he said, trying to hide his concerns. But it mattered little, because the others had similar fears.
Finding places to sleep on the ground, they passed the night uneventfully, and the fire never faltered. Their sleep, however, was anything but peaceful. Whether awake or having uneasy dreams, they were troubled by what kind of creatures they might encounter at daybreak.
Mercifully they were unaware of what was happening beyond the light cast by their fire. There, throughout a long and wakeful night, dim shapes and outlines moved silently around them.

A race of tiny magical beings lives on Earth today. Because of an ancient dispute, however, humans are unaware of their hidden civilization. For thousands of years they lived in peace, but a deadly menace now threatens their existence. A party of daring explorers led by the wise magician, Speckarin, is sent to destroy an evil lurking a continent and an ocean away.
They are kirins.
In this second book, The Flight of the Ain, the party reaches the sea, a vast and impassable entity. They encounter a reclusive clan of magicians, and the generous but reluctant Findadors, who produce music from their souls, and reveal how the quest may be carried on. The travelers depart to cross the ocean, and on their way discover a place that takes them to the beginning of time.

Hello everyone.
I recorded an audio version of the first volume of this trilogy. What was that like?
What an undertaking! It took four years to write the trilogy, and over a year to record the first book as a podcast novel. I had to become an actor, a director, and a sound engineer, with steep learning curves and many trials and errors along the way.
Was making the book into an audio book enjoyable?
Very much so. Performing the parts of the characters, adding the music, breathing life into the story, and making it come alive, were all invigorating. I'm excited about recording the next two books of the trilogy.
Is anything written beyond the trilogy?
Indeed. I have completed a fourth book, a sequel to the trilogy, much of which takes place on the fishing waters of Alaska.
