Dr. Wade Turklen, an internationally acclaimed physicist and Nobel Prize winner, is reading in his favorite chair before the fireplace. When the doorbell rings, his daughter comes down the stairway, thinking it's her date for the school dance. His wife opens the door and in burst three armed young men. McElwain vividly breathes life into his cast of characters. They stay in your mind and heart long after you've read the last page. You'll find yourself rooting for Turklen and hoping he'll be able, at last, to rebuild his life.
