Snippet from Book

"Basically, you get the idea," Pierce cut in. "Major Lee is a weapons officer, and she loves her job. But we're here to discuss the new phenomenon. The blue laser showed us free radiation zones that appear to have fascinating properties. If you look at the map and compare those regions to the satellite data one year ago, you can see the change clearly."

"Trees in the desert," Colonel Hauser said.

"Trees that should not have been there," Pierce concluded. "Our advanced scout parties reported seeing fireflies flying in perfect geometrical formations. The nature of these fireflies is still unknown to us. And there's more. Sensors have detected unusual tectonic activity across the planet. Drones photographed strange leafless trees appearing out of nowhere. Other sanctuaries are reporting similar findings. And here's the most interesting part of all. We have underground rivers that come to the surface through the cracks in the soil. The water is the color of sapphire."

"Is it radioactive?" Lee asked.

"No, but it behaves nothing like any water we've ever seen," Pierce replied.

About This Great Book

Tanya Gray made a promise to her father on the day the missiles were launched. She promised to survive the unthinkable. Finding refuge inside a high-tech fallout shelter, she, along with hundreds of survivors, tries to cope with unimaginable grief and suffering. Forced to live underground in a sanctuary run by a tyrannical general, Tanya endures death and hardship, but finds love and hope.

Implicated in a plot against the sanctuary's military dictatorship, she and her boyfriend are exiled to die on the surface. Suffering from radiation sickness, they encounter a stranger who offers them a chance to live again—but it will come at a price.

From A Review

The author skillfully uses a mix of descriptive language, dialogue, and combat/action scenes to move the plot forward. Despite the storyline being simultaneously intricate and emotionally intense, it is straightforward and easy to follow. Characters are introduced gradually, so we are not forced to learn a bunch of names and personalities all at once, though the cast of characters is fairly large.

From The Author

Before I started this novel, I read a lot of post-apocalyptic fiction. I always found it intriguing—what our world would be like after a global disaster. How would we face it? What would we do to survive? In this novel, I created an adventure of an ordinary young woman, who faces the mind shattering reality of a nuclear holocaust.

I wanted to write a story of hope arising from the ashes. I also wanted to tap into human reserves of courage, nature's hidden mysteries, and its unmatched potential for creation and destruction.
