Snippet from Book

The sun's rays emanated from the fissure above, a fracture less than a couple of meters wide. The light bore down on them so they had little difficulty in seeing what was ahead, but their peripheral vision was almost nonexistent.

"This place gives me the creeps," Catalina said.

"It's because of the light," Eric countered. "It gives the place an unearthly appearance."

Catalina shivered. Although her clothes were wet, she wasn't thinking so much about her discomfort as the treasure, more specifically the Golden Disk of the Sun. "You're right on that score."

Eric would have much preferred the steamy environment of the jungle than this place. As he followed the light coming from above, a strange foreboding came over him. For a reason he couldn't explain, he sensed they were not alone. He turned toward Catalina. "Have you noticed we're going deeper into the mountain?"

Her voice was barely above a whisper. "No, but it's colder . . . there is also less light."

Chris shined his light away from the fissure into the blackness. "Our flashlights won't do us much good. Not in this place. We better leave well before the sun sets."

They descended farther into the grotto. Suddenly, Catalina's scream filled the chamber; magnified tenfold, her echo could be heard again and again reverberating in the cavernous room.

Everyone froze.

About This Great Book

Eric Shade, a former South American history professor, is hired by Catalina Rivera, a beautiful archeologist, to help her and her fiancé locate a fabulous treasure once belonging to an Inca queen that has been hidden for centuries in the deep jungles of Brazil. In order to locate the treasure, they must first scale a formidable mountain, a mountain the native Indians won't go near because they claim it's occupied by a group of strange pale-skinned men, which they refer to as the Star Walkers.

The farther the group travels into the rain forest, the more Shade begins to suspect that the Star Walkers are more than just a myth. As they traverse jungle-choked canyons and steep gorges, facing danger at every turn, hatred, treachery and betrayal enter into play. Not only must Shade brave the cloying dangers of an inhospitable terrain, but he must also ward off an insanely jealous man who is hell-bent on killing him.

Golden Disk of the Sun is Book One of the Star Walkers Trilogy.

From A Review

The first book of the Star Walkers trilogy feels like a good, old classic tale of adventure reminiscent of Doc Savage and Indiana Jones. An unemployed, down on his luck professor of archaeology, Eric Shade searches for his missing father, a scientist and an explorer lost in the deep, exotic, and treacherous Amazon jungle.

From The Author

Next to outer space and the deep trenches of our oceans, the Amazon is probably the most mysterious, unexplored place on earth. For centuries adventurers have entered the emerald canopy to try and unravel its pantheon of secrets including a group of gods who had supposedly come from the sky. Some call them the Star Walkers. Whether legend or myth, little has been written about them. This might be because the stories the Indians tell have been passed on verbally from generation to generation for centuries.

Needless to say I was hooked! The more I read about Mato Grosso, Brazil, the more questions I had about this strange land, a land where myths and facts often cross paths. It is a fact that there are literally hundreds of kilometers of tunnels that criss-cross Brazil, and that these tunnels have existed for thousands of years. But it is merely conjecture as to who could have built them. I became fascinated with men like Percy Fawcett who had been brave enough to enter the Amazon to search for the elusive Star Walkers and their cities. According to chroniclers, most adventurers like Fawcett have never been seen or heard from again. I often wondered if animal predators or hostile Indians had claimed their lives . . . or was it something else?

My objective in writing a trilogy was to weave some of these age-old fascinating myths and legends into my plots. Although I have no proof as to whether the Star Walkers had ever existed, I am convinced that be they gods, men, or ancient aliens, a technologically advanced civilization that pre-dates the Incas by thousands of years built the monolithic wonders that abound in the jungles of South America.
