During WWII, a young German soldier winds up in Spain. He rescues a young woman whose father is a wealthy and powerful businessman in Barcelona. They both think Stephan is Spanish and the father hires him as a bodyguard for his daughter.

Stephan's life changes entirely and a series of large and small adventures occur until the day comes when he is faced with revealing who he really is. It's a traumatic moment for him as he must decide whether to continue living a lie.

Esmeralda the cook stepped in front of him, blocking his way. Stephan saw a woman with a cold, steely look in her eyes and a large meat cleaver in one hand.

"You are a guest in this house and I respect that. But, if you do one thing to harm my girl, that I will not accept!"

"What are you talking about?" he asked.

"You know perfectly well what I'm talking about. I saw your picture in the newspaper and on television."

With that, she slammed the cleaver blade into the carving block. Stephan stared at the knife.

"My husband feels the same way, young man. So don't cross us and do nothing to harm Maria Elena!"

Stephan's Journey
by Joe McCord

About this Book

A tale of love, adventure, deception, and high danger, set in the immediate post-WWII years when a young couple slowly find each other and develop a relationship. Then they set out on a voyage which threatens to end both the relationship and their lives.

How they face those challenges results in a rollicking story with both humor and passion and, at the same time, tests the mettle of both of them.
